To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, the American Institute in Taiwan launched the “Freedom 250” series of events in Taiwan in 2026. In addition to commemorative receptions, the initiative connected U.S. diplomatic missions around the world through a global lighting campaign, inviting iconic landmarks worldwide to participate. Illuminated in red, white, and blue, the landmarks symbolized freedom, democracy, and international friendship, adding special significance to the 250th anniversary celebration.
